East Cobb GA Dentist
At Healthy Smiles of East Cobb, our main focus is primarily on disease prevention. If disease can be prevented, then treatment will not be necessary. However, we do offer services when they are required to help you achieve optimal dental health.
Preventive Services include:
- Exams, including oral cancer screenings
- Oral Hygiene Instruction
- Fluoride Treatments
A comprehensive exam will be conducted prior to teeth cleaning for new patients. Dental cleanings are performed by your dentist and certified hygienist and typically last between 45 minutes to an hour. After the cleaning, an exam will be performed again by your dentist. Routine cleanings are typically free from pain and discomfort.
Sealants can greatly decrease the occurrence of cavities and tooth decay in molars (back teeth). Molars are most susceptible to decay and cavities because they are heavily utilized in the chewing process and are often the most difficult to clean. Most molars appear between the ages of 5-7 for children. Adult molars grow between 11-14 years old. Sealants are most effective when the first molars appear, to ensure early protection.
When placing the sealant, adhesive is applied to the teeth. Our team will then coat or paint liquid over the tooth. After the liquid hardens, it will create a protective barrier for your tooth against plaque, food, and bacteria.
